Leadership and Staff

Our Pastor and Elders

As Presbyterians, the pastor and elders as a group lead the church.  They are responsible for overseeing the spiritual care and growth of the congregation, including the Christian nurture and teaching at BPC.  Additionally, our elders assist in leading our worship services.

Dr. Mantle A. Nance
Dr. Nance became BPC’s pastor in November of 2014 and faithfully serves the church in many ways, most notably by preaching morning and evening each Sunday. He has received degrees from Furman University (B.A.), Reformed Theological Seminary (M.Div.), and The University of Aberdeen (Ph.D.). He is married to Sally and has two sons, Jackson and Aaron.
Tim Ball

Tim is married to Reba, and they have five children, all boys. He works for a major financial company in Uptown Charlotte.  Tim chairs the Missions Committee and also serves on the Discipleship Committee.

Kenneth Jackson

Kenneth chairs our Personnel and Discipleship committees. He is married to Catie, and they have seven children. Kenneth works for Amazon Web Services with their financial services customers.

Dennis Kachmarsky
Dennis is married to Joanne, and they have two adult children and a granddaughter. He works as a consulting engineer in Uptown Charlotte. Dennis is the Clerk of the session and serves on the Personnel Committee.
Mark Seeley
Elder Emeritus
Mark became an elder at BPC at its beginning and served for many years. In recognition of his faithful service, the congregation of BPC elected him Elder Emeritus in March of 2018. Mark has been married to Nancy for more than 40 years, and they have four children and eight grandchildren.

Our Deacons

All of the physical needs of the church are tended to by the deacons.  This includes our mercy ministry, finances, and building and grounds maintenance and upkeep.  The deacons are exemplary servants of Christ and his church, and they encourage all members to use their gifts and talents for Christ.

Sam Bullard
Sam is responsible for internal mercy needs, serves on the Outreach Committee, and co-teaches a children’s Sunday School class with his wife, Wink. They have two adult sons and operate The Furniture Network, an office furniture dealership.
Rob Kelley
Rob is responsible for the building and grounds. He is married to Christie, and they have two children. Rob works at Premier Water, a manufacturer’s representative that sells equipment for water and wastewater treatment.
Keith Kowadlo
Keith is the leader of the Men’s Discipleship Ministry. He has been married to Susan for 33 years and they have two grown daughters. He retired from the US Army in 1996 and works as a construction consultant with the federal government.
Dan Tubaugh

Dan is responsible for the financial duties of the diaconate. He is married to Leigh Ann, and they have two children. Dan works in the managed care division of Atrium Health.

Our Staff

The staff serve as the backbone of making sure the day-to-day operations and ministry of the church are in working order.  They work tirelessly in service to BPC.

Dr. Catharine ("Catie") Jackson
Music Director
Dr. Jackson and her husband Kenneth joined Ballantyne Presbyterian Church in the fall of 2000. Catie has music degrees from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, the University of South Carolina, and the University of Iowa. Catie & Kenneth have seven children and are passionate about adoption and pursuing truth, goodness, and beauty in all things.
Aimee Jobe

Aimee works as a CPA at a large accounting firm in Charlotte.  She received her Business Accounting degree from Anderson University in SC and her Masters in Accounting from Wake Forest. 

Christie Kelley
Administrative Assistant
Christie grew up near Charlotte, is married to Rob and they have two teenage children, Trey and Anna. Christie has a B.S. degree in Psychology from Appalachian State University and previously worked in Human Resources, as well as in several volunteer roles at BPC and the community.
Phoebe Pritchett
Women's Ministry
Phoebe is from Marietta Georgia and a graduate of Reinhardt University. She recently received her Master of Arts in Biblical Studies from Reformed Theological Seminary and currently works at RTS as the Community Life Coordinator.
Matt Spear
Matt currently serves as Treasurer. He has previously served BPC in the roles of deacon and elder. Matt is married to Meg and they have seven children. He works as an investment advisor and loves golf.
Austin Cassel

Austin was born and raised in Hershey, PA and earned a B.S. in Entrepreneurship at the University of Delaware. Before coming to Charlotte, Austin served as an RUF intern at Colorado State University.  During that time he met his wife, Riley. He is currently pursuing a Masters of Divinity at RTS and hopes to return to RUF ministry as a campus minister. When Austin isn't in class you can find him with a good book, cooking, or riding his bike.

Levi Martin

Levi was born and raised in Roanoke, VA and studied Bible at Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Levi moved to Charlotte in 2022 to pursue seminary at RTS. His interests and hobbies include walking, playing guitar, and reading, specifically biographies and some fiction. Levi aspires to be involved in missions at some point in his career.

Jordan Perkins
Jordan and his wife Sarah moved to Charlotte from Colorado. He is a student at RTS pursuing his Masters of Divinity with an emphasis in counseling. He also graduated in 2017 with a bachelor’s of science degree in construction management, with a business minor, from Colorado State University.
Chuck Sammons

Chuck is originally from Texas where he received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Texas. He has spent much of his career working with various oil and gas production companies. He is currently in his third year pursuing a Master of Divinity at RTS. Chuck is happily married to his wife Pollianna and together they have four children and three grandchildren. Chuck enjoys studying the Bible and walking with his cats, George and Ivan.
